Our gin of the month for March 2019 is Malfy Originale. Here’s our Malfy Gin review.
Why Malfy? Well, we’re going to be a bit parochial this month. Here at whichgin.com we serve the world, but we’re based in the UK. So, in this momentous month of Brexit (maybe – we’re writing in early March, so you never know…), we thought we’d say goodbye to our European Union (EU) neighbours by choosing a European gin. There are some excellent European gins out there, but Malfy is one that we’ve really enjoyed. We liked its fresh and clean taste.
We’ll try not to get all political here. For those readers not in the UK, the Brexit debate has been fairly ‘polarising’. We’re hopeful that as the UK breaks away from the EU that gin imports won’t be impacted too badly. Heaven forbid. We’re lucky to have many great UK gins too, but we’d hate to lose access to our favourites from Ireland and the rest of the EU.
In our original review of Malfy Originale, we loved the nautical bottle and the fact that this gin pays homage to the ancient gins of the Amalfi coast. It has a fresh taste, and we thought that was likely down to the lemon and grapefruit peel botanicals showing through. Malfy Originale has an ABV of 41%.
We said about Malfy Originale: “Our first foray into Italian gin and it won’t be our last. A nice, clean drinking gin that makes for a fantastic gin and tonic.”
Where to buy Malfy Gin
The Malfy website is itself is beautiful, and well worth a look. The issue is that you’ll want to immediately book a holiday to Italy.
